Yes, a love letter. A swoon-inducing, tear-producing, sweetheart-seducing love letter.

Preprinted cards are nice, but a handwritten, from-the-heart missive is perhaps the most memorable Valentine's Day gift you can give your love.

In a survey conducted last year by Passion Marketing Research Associates, a handwritten letter beat out flowers, candy, jewelry and a romantic dinner as the most desired Valentine's Day present.

And no, "i luv u" via text message will not do.

E-mail is fine for communicating the mundane, like honey-can-you-stop-by-the-supermarket requests. But for matters of the heart, use pen and ink, please.
