SmudgeGuard™ relieves your hygienic worries for your left-handed children as well.

They do know that pencil 'lead' isn't actually *lead*, don't they? You could eat the entire pencil without coming to any harm, as long as the paint on the surface is non-toxic, which should be a pretty safe bet these days.

Another reason to buy one - you will need more than one because *it* will get covered in smudges instead of your hand!

OMG! As a leftie, I am offended by how incredibly foolish this is! I agree with Michael and Natalie... pencil lead is not toxic and this doo-dad would get filthy too. Silly silly silly.

I have my own opinion about the SmudgeGuard. I think this is a great product!
Even though pencil lead is not actually lead anymore, it's still pretty gross to be eating graphite!
Also, it's main purpose is to protect the side of the hand. Of course the material is going to get smudged. But what about aprons and smocks? Don't they get dirty as well? But people still buy it, right?
In the end, would you rather get your hand dirty or would you rather get the SmudgeGuard dirty?
Protective gloves are made to protect hands. Just like gardening gloves, dishwashing gloves, work gloves, excercising gloves, etc.
Well..that's my opinion. I'm just glad that this is a new choice for lefties. It's better than no choice since this world is mainly created for right-handers!

Yeah, I agree with Nicole. This would have been a great tool for me growing up in school. I hated the darn smudges!
I'm gonna support this fellow lefty who took the effort to see our struggles and decided to help make a difference. We should thank SmudgeGuard! Don't we want to encourage more left-handed products in the future? What happened to "lefties unite?" I'm buying this for my own kid and at $5.00, that's a great price!
Also, hospitals use rubber gloves to protect their hands all day long! The gloves get dirty within a few minutes and people still buy that everyday! I don't think SmudgeGuard is silly. It's cool!

Why not just wash your hands? Getting your hands dirty is half the fun as a child.

Just wondering how often people tend to touch their lunches with the side of their hands... Lefties might tend to smudge their writings, but do they tend to rub their hands on sandwitches?

Hey with kids, you never know. Kids even eat crayons and boogies! LOL

As a leftie, the problem I had was that my hand smudged what I had already put on the paper, spoiling even more what was at best poor handwriting. This gadget won't help prevent the problem I had, only a different writing posture will, which is what I eventually learned.
Oh, and pencils have never been made of lead.

As a lefty, I tried many ways to prevent smudges on my hand AND work. I tried slanting the paper in front of me to trying the faster drying ink pens. But none of it worked.
I wasn't comfortable with slanting the paper (even though I know it stops the smudges when writing underneath the line) but it just felt too weird. I needed to tilt my head to read what I wrote and that was so uncomfortable. So the only position I liked was having the paper lay straight in front of me (without slanting) which unfortunately, smudged my hand the most.
Second, the faster drying ink pens don't work. It cannot dry quick enough before my hand smudges over it when writing fast. Also, the chemicals in those pens are the worst to scrub off. I spent double the time in the bathroom trying to scrub the freakin ink off. So I threw that pen out right away.
As for the SmudgeGuard, I think this would be perfect for me since I cannot slant my page and I don't have to waste time in the bathroom washing smudges off. Plus, my smudged hand won't have to re-smudge my work anymore either. I re-smudged my work only because my hand sweated and the moisture of my hand would re-smudge my work. If wearing this tool, keeps the side of my hand dry, that's a plus!

As a lefty, it's the sides of my fingers that get dirty, not my hand. Either way, I think this is unnecessary.
