Great find from our friend Eric Bobinsky:
I discovered these colorful, five by seven inch Hula Honeys journals at a Half-Price book store near Cleveland, Ohio for $5.00. The cover is the type of etched plastic that causes the hula girl to "dance" as the book is tilted from side to side. The pages are narrow-ruled and have hula/island motif drawings at the margins. According to the label in the back cover, they are copyrighted by Jim Heimann (2003), designed by Henry Quiroga and published by Chronicle Books in San Francisco with a list price of $10.95.

They have these at Virgin Megastores in NYC too.
Barnes and Noble is now selling some very colorful notebooks that are pretty fun--but I wanted to call them up and scream: Nobody wants explanations about who did the artwork for Barnes and Noble on the back. I don't anyway. The ones with the kangaroos? Now the Kangaroo pouch, the cloth one, it seems like maybe I would use it for my Moleskine. But I don't want advertising all over the back of my notebooks.

I have a weakness for all things Hawaii. I just might have to hunt these down, they are too cute!

These have been around for years (as the date suggests) -- the reason they were at Half Price Books is that they're a closeout item. I've also seen them at a Borders outlet store. Cute enough if the aging of the paper doesn't bother you (some people don't like the way older paper takes ink, etc).
