News from our old friends at Kikkerland:
Different Design and a new stationery line WRITERSBLOK are featured in Kikkerland Design's 65 product launch
Kikkerland Design will challenge discriminating buyers with new and sometimes controversial designs at this year's New York International Gift Fair held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, August 16¬-21, 2008. The company whose motto is "Good Design Small Things" is known for taking risks in the consumer products market by supporting innovative designers and their ideas. Cuckoo Clocks that don't cuckoo, a crow bar for opening bottles, a globe without a single country's name on it, passport holders for countries you may not want to visit. This is the kind of stuff Kikkerland makes. Fun, smart, daring.
Highlights:
* David Dear, designer of the best-selling Kikkerland staple the RainbowMaker presents Kim the Talking Clock inspired by mid-century science fiction.
* Dutch designer Jan Habraken's Psycho, Shark and Titanic Shower Curtains and Money Laundry bags.
* Swiss-born designer Thomas Buchheim is the creator of the Cuckoo Deconstructed, a magnetic cuckoo clock that doesn't cuckoo.
* Jozeph Forakis' pocket size Push Lights and award-winning design Chrome Kitchen Timers.
* Brooklyn-based David Weeks' new essential bar tool, the Bar Pry, also known as the Crowbar Bottle Opener.
* French designer Renaud Supiot, aka Reno, presents his
Beautiful Earth Magnetic Globe, with a non-political map that declares
no boundaries and the dual cartridge Double Pen.
* A line of comprehensive and playful picture frames alternatives that go beyond the old concepts of the picture frame.

I searched the Kikkerland site but didn't actually see the Writersblok books for sale. Do you know when these will be available?

really interesting idea and concept behind the notebooks and future plans for the literacy programme. i like.
as the happy recipient of several kikkerland design products i can testify to their random brilliance! - a solar powered machine to turn sunlight into rainbows and scatter them around my living room and a dangling kitchen timer shaped like a cartoon 1 ton weight - simply inspired!
