Rhodia Sponsors Visual Libraries Project
From Claire Sambrook, Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth:
VISUAL LIBRARIES - Leave your Mark.
A collaborative, visual project which encourages you to sign out a Visual Library Book and ‘Leave Your Mark’.
A Visual Library Book is whatever you want it to be, a sketchbook, a journal, a diary, a notepad.
You can ‘Leave Your Mark’ in whatever way you want, ranging from
drawing, writing, sewing, adding photographs, markings, printing and
sticking. How you make your marks is entirely up to you. All we ask is
that you have fun with the different themes.
45 Visual Library Books have been placed in Portsmouth Central Library
and each has its own theme ranging from; Portsmouth, My City, When I
Open My Eyes, Whilst I Was Waiting, Love, What’s in My Pocket and
Memories. The intention is for you to feel free to explore the Visual
Library Books and choose a theme that you like.

The Circle – a simple ToDo System to Get more Things Done
Sigurdur Armannsson wrote in to invite us to an article he wrote last week about a simple to do organising
system for notebooks.
"this is the Circle system. It’s simple and it does not
cost you anything and you don’t need to read a book about it. I (and
you, when you have adopted the system) gain several things: A really
reliable and fast working visual overview of the status of every
project. I see instantly if a page has circles that are not fully
filled. In a while you will notice that you try to get all the circles
filled up so you don’t have to look back on older pages. You will be
aware that you are actually getting more done. The circles are the
proof...."

Who: Lucy Hamblin, photographer and artist
What: “The elements of these pages were largely drawn
in the South of France, where I lived. They were drawn for an antique
dealer named Romain, in exchange for a pair of enormous turtle shells
he had given me. They are studies of Bugatti’s chairs; ornately carved
and decked with perishing fringe. The blue Polaroid was taken of a
Victorian mourning dress I made - the model’s face and hands speckled
with black ash in the South American funerary tradition.”
